Core Angling's passion for fishing and fish conservation
It goes without saying that Core Angling founders David Petersen and Dr Andy Danlychuk have a passion for fishing and fish conservation.
But it’s getting fly fishing anglers, conservationists and scientists together that really fires them up.
"We started Core Angling because we really wanted to bridge the gap between fisheries scientists and recreational anglers" says David.
"And we felt that a fishing vacation that combines great angling opportunities with real field research can help our clients become better anglers".
"The Core Angling experience expands your knowledge, involvement and ownership of recreational fisheries" adds Andy.
"And working alongside our research partners, our clients gain information about their target species and importantly, apply practices that promote a healthier, more vibrant and sustainable fishery".
David Petersen, Executive Director

David's experience in both freshwater and saltwater fishing goes back 30 years. He recalls fishing for bass and pike on the Great Lakes, and winters spent in south Florida, stalking the flats for seatrout and redfish.
His passion for fly fishing started 10 years ago and catching his first bonefish encouraged him to pursue his passion of sharing his knowledge of conservation best practices with fellow anglers.
His background as an angler and a scientist, as well as his love of the great outdoors led to the creation of the Core Angling experience with Andy Danlychuk.
Andy Danylchuk, Ph.D., Science and Operations

Andy's love of fishing is clearly shown in his career path, as is his love of learning and sharing his knowledge with whoever’s listening!
His current position as the Director at the Cape Eleuthera Institute means he’s responsible for developing research initiatives; liaising with government research organizations; and conducting primary research on the ecology and conservation of shallow water flats.
It’s always been one of Andy’s career goals to have anglers and scientists work side-by-side to address issues relating to fish conservation and management. So he’s delighted to have developed the Core Angling experience with David Petersen.
